  • BMW Motorrad has unveiled the Vision K18, a one-off concept bike built around an 1800cc inline six-cylinder engine, making its public debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como.

The Vision K18 is positioned as a design and engineering statement rather than a production preview, though BMW says it is intended to inspire future series-production solutions.

The concept centres on the inline six-cylinder as both a technical and visual anchor, with proportions, bodywork and detailing all subordinated to the engine. The silhouette draws from high-speed aviation, with BMW citing the Concorde as a reference point for the bike’s flyline.

Six intakes, six tailpipes and six LED headlights reference the engine architecture visually. Body panels are partially hand-formed using a planishing technique, including a seamless aluminium side panel more than two metres long.

Contrasting materials including forged carbon sit alongside flame-sprayed surfaces, the latter producing a metallic finish BMW describes as a nod to classic Formula 1 exhaust headers.

A hydraulically lowerable suspension system and actively cooled headlight are among the functional highlights. The airbox and fuel tank positions have been swapped to achieve a flat rear roofline, while a wide carbon-framed tail section houses the six exhaust outlets. Air feeds to a central filter via six tubes routed through the front end.

BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch said the Vision K18 represents a new interpretation of performance, luxury and emotion for the brand, describing the inline six-cylinder as “far more than an engine, it is a statement.”

The concept is presented under the creative theme “Full Force Forward”, with a visual campaign built around a heat-haze effect intended to make the engine’s power visible on camera. The chosen backdrop is a runway setting, reinforcing the aviation influence that runs throughout the design.
